Book Talk: The Last Thing He Told Me by Laura Dave

My Wish List and yes, my bank account too, is groaning under the weight of all the new books I’m adding, and looking forward to. Including this one coming out next year from Simon & Schuster, THE LAST THING HE TOLD ME by Laura Dave is making waves even before publication because … it’s already been optioned as a TV series starring Julia Roberts … yes, that Julia Roberts!

About the Author

Laura Dave is the national and international bestselling author of Eight Hundred Grapes and other novels. Her writing has appeared in The New York Times; O, The Oprah Magazine; Ladies’ Home Journal; Glamour; Redbook; Self; and The New York Observer. Dave has appeared on the CBS Early Show, The Modern Love Podcast, and NPR’s All Things Considered; and Cosmopolitan named her a “Fun and Fearless Phenom” of the year. She resides with her family in Santa Monica.

About the Book

Before Owen Michaels disappears, he manages to smuggle a note to his beloved wife of one year: Protect her. Despite her confusion and fear, Hannah Hall knows exactly to whom the note refers: Owen’s sixteen-year-old daughter, Bailey. Bailey, who lost her mother tragically as a child. Bailey, who wants absolutely nothing to do with her new stepmother.

As Hannah’s increasingly desperate calls to Owen go unanswered; as the FBI arrests Owen’s boss; as a US Marshal and FBI agents arrive at her Sausalito home unannounced, Hannah quickly realizes her husband isn’t who he said he was. And that Bailey just may hold the key to figuring out Owen’s true identity—and why he really disappeared.

Hannah and Bailey set out to discover the truth, together. But as they start putting together the pieces of Owen’s past, they soon realize they are also building a new future. One neither Hannah nor Bailey could have anticipated.

Alexandra my bank account is groaning too! I think it’s all the frustration linked with lockdown and lack of social interaction: we have to find joy elsewhere.

Oh, I know, I can’t keep up with all the great books that I want to read, but yeah, at least we are reading more because of the lockdown. I don’t know if that’s a good thing or not! 😉

Glad to see you’re excited about this one, too, Alexandra

It’s a case of so many good books coming next year, I want to try set myself a target of 60 reads for next year too! Will I make? 😀
