I’ve Got It Covered #2

More great cover artwork to share with you, because, let’s face it, who doesn’t judge a book by its cover. I think we all do. I think this one is a little less aggressive than the apocalyptic seer, with burning eyes, of the cover from a couple of days ago. What do you think? Does this one suggest going places, seeing things? And the title, do you like it, or does it feel a little confusing to those of you who don’t read a lot of SciFi novels? So, once again, all comments and observations about this one will be very appreciated. Thanks!

I’ve Got It Covered

Okay book friends, I’m looking for feedback and helpful comments today about book covers. Specifically, the two covers presented below. Like writing, sometimes we stare so long at something we begin to lose focus on what it is we’re looking at. We know something looks ‘okay’, but just that, okay, not great. And we know when there’s something amiss, just what though, often eludes us. So I’m looking for several fresh sets of eyes to stare at these two covers and tell me which you prefer, if anything, about each. Do you like/hate the fonts? Is the text too close to the top/bottom, or is something else off? And, of course, let me know your thoughts in the comments, thanks!

Top 5 Books I NEED to read in 2020

Top 5 Tuesday is back and Shanah over at the Bionic Book Worm is asking us to list our Top 5 books we need to read, this year. Pretty much a hot fav topic, I think, for any book blogger and lover of the written word. So here are my choices: EMPIRE OF GOLD by S.A. Chakraborty — the most anticipated book of the year for anyone who’s been reading her Daevabad series.  GOLDILOCKS by Laura Lam — An epic SF adventure where a crew of female astronauts—for a change—save not only Earth, but our little corner of the universe.  SILENCE OF THE BONES by June Hur — A huge sprawling historical (fantasy?) set in Korea a couple of hundred years ago, that I am so looking forward to reading.  HOW TO BEE by Bren MacDibble — In a world where real bees are extinct, the quickest, bravest kids climb the fruit trees and pollinate the flowers by hand. Written by a friend, of course I want to read this one! DARKNESS FOR LIGHT by …

New Book Buys

Yes, yes, I know, I hear you, like I really, and I mean, really need to read the books I already have on my TBR first, before going online and buying yet more books! But … my friend (@Macdibble) Bren’s book, HOW TO BEE is released March 4 here, in Canada, and I so want my own copy. Then there’s the exciting new YA novel from June Hur, THE SILENCE OF BONES, which is set in 18c Korea. Damn, are you kidding me, the write up alone, never mind the lovely Korean/Canadian author, June, had me so wanting to read this one. Talk about anticipation. Then there’s WE WERE KILLERS ONCE, the next in Becky Masterman’s Brigid Quinn series, which I’ve been wanting for some time now. So yes, of course it had to go in the basket. Don’t ask me why, but I always have to buy 3 books at a time. Not one, not two, but three! Then there’s Laura Lam’s GOLDILOCKS along with S.A. Chakraborty’s EMPIRE OF GOLD, her third and last …
