One of my fav blogs to read is that of blogger, Lou Plummer. Not just because you always get a post worth reading, but that he also shares any number of insights into his life, and where he lives. These more personal posts always resonate, as did his post Twenty Sublime Moments. Which got me thinking about some of the happier moments in my own life.
- Seeing the first spring flowers after the snow melts
- Hearing the sound of children’s laughter
- The smell of my mother’s favourite cologne, 4711
- Listening to bird song in the park
- Reading at my favourite spot in the park
- Eating my sister in law’s pulled pork poutine
- Taking the ferry across the St. Lawrence river
- The sound of bees buzzing in summer
- Climbing into a bed with fresh clean sheets
- Watching the first snowfall from inside, in the warmth, hot cocoa in hand
And you, what are some of your favourite moments?
Going into the woods in the late fall to collect pine and spruce branches for elaborate wreaths and swags my father would make for our church. The whole experience stands out as one of my favourite things…ever.
My daughter loves poutine, but I’ve never heard of pulled pork being used!
Oh, now that sounds lovely, Elisabeth. Talk about best memories ever. And the smells, I can just imagine what that must have been like.
I love poutine. I’ve become a poutine addict. As a Brit who loves gravy and chips, this is the perfect comfort food. And yes, pulled pork poutine is huge here, in the city. You have to come visit just for that!
Oh these are all so so good.
I come to enjoy the sheet thing lately. Such a luxury one can easily achieve.
Also the sound of wind in the tree leaves.
The sound and smell of rain.
Sunshine and snow.
The sound of snowflakes falling.
There are so many small things in our lives to be thankful for, and yes, even the weather can share some lovely moments with us. Snow especially can be ferocious or gentle.
