Top 5 Tuesday: Cozy Fall Reads

Ah, another Tuesday, so it must be Belgium … what? Oh, no, I mean that it’s Top 5 Tuesday, you know, from Shanah over at, Bionic Book Worm. And this week’s topic in keeping with the season is, Top 5 Cozy Fall Reads. Though “cozy” is wide open to interpretation. Anyway, here goes nothing: #1 : CITY OF BRASS — S.A. Chakraborty I’ve been hearing so many good things about this fantasy, that I’m convinced, it’s on my to Buy List. Personally, the Fall is that time of year to read a really good fantasy, or anything about magic, as it’s that mystical, mythical time of year. #2 : TIGERHEART — Peter David I’ve had this book—which was a gift—for ages and this is probably the perfect time of year to read it. It being all about fairies, leprechauns, and magic mirrors people can go through to Fairytale lands. And what’s better, it’s written by Peter David who has great wit. #3 : THE PERPLEXING THEFT OF THE JEWEL IN THE CROWN — Vaseem Khan …

Top 5 Tuesday: Fabulous Fun Fantasy Fiction

It’s Tuesday so it must be Top 5 Tuesday from Shanah over at Bionic Book Worm, and this week’s topic is: YA & Adult Fantasy. This one turned out to be a no-brainer given the top 5 books that made me laugh—from earlier this month—were, for the most part, all fantasies. And no sooner are the words, ‘As you Wish’ spoken, and we’re off chasing across the land, duelling, fighting and besting the bad guys in a fictional romp that has since become a must-read classic. #2 : THE COLOUR OF MAGIC — Terry Pratchett Another British classic, Pratchett created a whole world travelling through space upon the back of a giant turtle, held up on the backs of four elephants: Discworld. If that doesn’t intrigue you, then nothing will. Follow the exploits …

Hmm … this is a tough one because I read predominantly crime and speculative fiction at the moment, so not many laugh-out-loud moments to be had there. I’ve had to rack my brains to come up with titles, and instances, but finally, I dug deep and here are my choices. #1 : THE PRINCESS BRIDE — William Goldman “Who are you?” “No one of consequence.” “I must know.” “Get used to disappointment.” — Dread Pirate Roberts #2 : THE COLOUR OF MAGIC — Terry Pratchett “Let’s just say that if complete and utter chaos was lightning, he’d be the sort to stand on a hilltop in a thunderstorm wearing wet copper armour and shouting ‘All gods are bastards’.” — Rincewind discussing Twoflower #3 : THE HITCHHIKER’S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY — Douglas Adams “A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the …
