Top Ten Tuesday: Funny Book Titles

Today’s Top Ten Tuesday from Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl, is aimed at Funny Book Titles, which in itself is a fun post to do especially as I’ve read a few books over the years with some really great titles, though the quality of those reads has always been mixed.

But here we go, ten funny book titles of books I’ve read:

  1. THE SWEETNESS AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PIE by Alan Bradley — come on, that title alone had me wanting to read the book which, by the way, was really fun read and book #1 in the Flavia de Luce mystery series.
  2. THE GRAVE’S A FINE AND PRIVATE PLACE by Alan Bradley — yes, see, I told you, the Flavia books all have these great titles …
  3. THE WOMAN WHO MARRIED A BEAR by John Straley — another great name that made me buy the book, sad to say though, the story was awful.
  4. THE SPY WHO CAME IN OUT OF THE COLD by John Le Carre — this is a classic much loved Le Carre novel from his spy mystery series. And yes, it was a good read too.
  5. THE PERPLEXING THEFT OF THE JEWEL IN THE CROWN by Vaseem Khan — is the second of Khan’s Inspector Chopra books, all of which have really fun titles.
  6. BAD DAY AT THE VULTURE CLUB by Vaseem Khan — see, I told you, Khan’s series of murder mysteries starring the wonderful Insp. Chopra are a fun series to read.
  7. THE ISLAND OF THE SEQUINED LOVE NUN by Christopher Moore — Like Bradley and Khan, Moore is also known for his really funny if not whacky book titles.
  8. THE LUST LIZARD OF MELANCHOLY COVE by Christopher Moore — see what I mean? Have you read any of his books? They are equally as weirdly funny as his titles!
  9. THE HITCHHIKER’S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY by Douglas Adams — a really funny title and a funny read as well.
  10. THE GRASS IS ALWAYS GREENER OVER THE SEPTIC TANK by Erma Bombeck — a comedienne who really knew how to make people laugh never mind coin a really funny book title.

And you, what funny book titles have you read recently, if any?

The hitchiker’s guide sounds the most normal one but maybe that’s because I’m used to it by now . Great finds! I wish I could contribute but I can’t top these!

Yeah, it was funny back in the day, now it just seems very ordinary. And yeah, I’ve read some really funny titled books over the years.
