Vieux Quebec

It was a glorious autumnal day yesterday, what with a nip in the air hinting at things to come yet, a fierce sun that warmed our backs as we dashed here, there, and everywhere, doing errands. But not to be thwarted, we did manage to end up in the Old Port, and grab a coffee from one of our fav cafes, Smiths, to sip outside of course. The art installations never fail to amuse here, in the Old Port, and the colourful canoes made me smile. Though I doubt I’d want to go sailing anytime soon in one of these rather string-vest versions! Still, King Lovis was resplendent in the sunshine and flanked by some pretty flowers and a lot of late summer bees. What’s nice was the hint of gold and red on the leaves on certain trees, hinting of the Fall colours to come. But of course, I’ll make sure I go back and take a lot of photos as and when I get the chance. Hope everyone’s having a fun-filled weekend, or …

A place with a View

They built a new multi storey carpark and created a park around it for tourists and locals alike, right on the waterfront in the Old Port area right where the cruise ships come in. But they made the car park both a hanging garden and, a view point. Giving the roof over to greenery not cars. All in all, it’s a lovely place to park up, and hang out with your kids for a couple of hours, as there are water features in the park. Or, it’s a starting point for visitors to the old quarter, or a walk along the sea front. And yes, that is another visiting ship. The Italian training ship Amerigo Vespucci. And yes, with a crowd of hopefuls wanting to get onboard—but there’s a three hour long queue. Enjoy the view! This is all so much nicer than what use to greet the cruise ships coming in … what was, an ugly open car park. What do you think?
