Decided to take a short bus trip to the upper rue st. Jean to go buy ice cream, as you do. And thought to snap a couple of photos along the way just for a bit of colour. And will you look at that blue sky? We’re having a great month of beautiful weather.

More from yesterday’s walkabout. We stopped to admire three older ladies doing an absolutely fabulous mural on a side wall to a lovely restaurant. The mural apparently depicts scenes from local life on Maguire.

We didn’t get to go where we wanted to go this morning because of the construction going on all over the city, for the new tramway. So, mid-way through our journey we hopped off one bus and pivotted our plans, and headed out on another bus and … went to Maguire street. A favourite food destination.
In a way, I’m glad we did because one, it’s a street full of niche boutiques and restaurants, including my fav (more on that in a minute) and, we discovered, a new endeavour.
A distillery, a place called Cherry River. It’s attached to the old village church. Maguire use to be the main street of an old village long since swallowed up by the ever expanding city years ago. And while the church still stand (unused) the historic hall next door is now, it seems, brewing delicious spirits.
So, of course, we went in and had ourselves a tasting. Various flavoured vodkas, tequila, gin, and a drink they were calling rhum — which I am reliably informed is a sugarcane juice rum. Well, there you go, something I didn’t know but now I do.
And then, as you do, after taking a tipple or two (not that I drank any hard liquor) we walked back towards Maguire and found the 42nd ranked best Pizza restaurant in the world — according to the Michelin Guide — the No. 900.
I, of course, had the ham & mushroom for lunch, as you do.
And you, what’s your drink of choice, and what pizza is your favourite?

We had an absolutely marvellous day out yesterday, at the Aquarium here, in Quebec City. I got to see my favourite exhibit, the Jellies. These creatures mesmerise me every time I see them.

An hour this morning spent wandering around the University Laval botanical gardens. And why not … it was warm and sunny, and flowers were blooming everywhere.

Had to pop out early this morning to go get some weekend supplies from our favourite Halle, which is a bus ride away. But well worth the short trip because, I mean, fresh baked croissants, bread, and cake! So yeah, who wouldn’t, right?
Got to the bus stop and, the ‘weird’ tree was in full bloom. Blossoms everywhere.
By the way, I’m following in Harry’s photographic footsteps (figuratively speaking) in doing this photography series.
