Flood Alert!

Minor first world problems abound here at Chez Alex this morning. As the master drain that services both our laundry and kitchen sink has started backing up. So that, ever time someone in a floor above us uses their dishwasher, sink, or washing machine, water and soap suds is coming up through our kitchen sink.
Yesterday evening was something of a nightmare making sure our kitchen didn’t get flooded after someone did laundery. The maintenance people we’re phoned yesterday, early, when we first saw this happening but, as is usual in these things, no one can come till tomorrow … I mean tomorrow? Jesus H. And the main effluent pipes leading from the building outside cannot be seen to till Friday at the earliest. That’s the City’s responsibility and … well we might be here till Hell freezes over waiting for that one to be checked out.
Meantime, we can’t do our laundry, nor can anyone else. Notice has been sent to everyone above us, on our side of the building, not to use their dishwasher and washing machines.
Sure, we’ll see whether that works out. I’m waiting for the first idiot to ignore this and flood our kitchen.
Now where did I leave my wellies?
